Happy Earth Day and Arbor Day! Let’s celebrate! I am putting on sale my part one book or a series for 99 cents and each book after, in the series for $1.49.
If the books are not part of a series, they are also on sale for 99 cents. Enjoy and thanks for saving a tree every time you read an ebook!
Nightmare Abbey is a lighthearted spoof for anyone who has read gothic romance novels. In a great deal of good-natured fun, the author pokes fun at the once raging bestsellers of that time. It has morbid subjects, curiosities to downright dabbling in the occult and misplaced ideals of romance and family structure. The fun is in each character, which was based on other literary characters in those raging bestsellers.
The story starts with the never-ending crisis of the owner of Nightmare Abbey, Christopher Glowry, Esquire who has lost his wife to some nameless cursed death and now lives in the mansion with his son, Stephen. The Abbey overlooks the seas as all gothic novels do.
The servants are questionable and named Raven, Graves and Deathshead. The visitors are few but memorable in situation and name like Mr. Toobad, Mr. Listless and Mr. Cypress. There is even a Reverend Mr. Larynx, which is the vicar in nearby Claydyke.
Stephen, the son, is sadly getting over a love affair ended badly and decides to distract himself with the occult leading to countless blunders. He flirts with new women and can't decide on which one driving them all mad and another one turns on him and torments him (Wuthering Heights anyone?) and it goes on...there is even a mermaid involved.
Will Stephen be in time to marry the woman of his dreams or has he lost them both? Fun summer reading full of amusing discoveries of other novels plots and characters you read and then forgotten, they are in this one! - as Stephen says, Bring the Madeira!
