The year was 2000 and the multi-billion dollar porn boom was in full swing. The adult industry had fully broken into the mainstream by this time thanks to Jenna Jameson, the Internet and a mainstream audience that was growing by leaps and bounds. Porn was no longer simply aimed towards the raincoater crowd anymore. Women, too, were the new target audience and for those who produced the videos, a new target audience meant a fatter bottom line.

As porn spearheaded into mainstream, the contract girl culture continued to grow. Porn companies like Vivid and Wicked who were leading the charge into widening audiences needed faces and names to represent them in all avenues of publicity.

Vivid had always been the leader in the contract girl market, and in 2000 the company signed a petite bombshell named Devon. Meanwhile, Wicked made huge headlines by signing on four girls at once — Temptress, Alexa Rae, Devinn Lane and a Czech girl named Meridian.

Another big name contract girl during this time was Zoe, a dead ringer for one of porndom's former superstars, Savannah. Zoe had recently left Cream Entertainment to sign with Sin City in order to star in bigger budget scripted features.

But while porn glistened with a mainstream glow, the industry's raunchier side continued to flourish with gangbangs, bukkakes and other nasty-as-can-be acts of depravity. The porn industry was still cranking out as much product as the market could bear. And the market, at this point, was continuing to grow ... with no end in sight.
