Walter F.R. Ribeiro pioneered the development of Gestalt therapy in South America. As his experience and wisdom grew, he began paying special attention to the relationship of the thinking of Alice Miller and Maurice Merleau-Ponty to Gestalt therapy theory. This book explores this relationship. He also includes the only extensive examination of the clinical application of Beisser’s “Paradoxical Theory of Change” appearing published to date.
