Communities, Forests and Governance : Policy and Institutional Innovations from Nepal

This book is an outcome of a collaborative research project between CIFOR and Forest Action Nepal, with funding support from International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD). The initial idea about the book originated in 2005, when the members of Forest Action Nepal approached researchers of CIFOR with regard to the possibility of documenting lessons of Nepal’s community-based forestry programmed. We then agreed to write a book by engaging practitioners and researchers associated with the respective programmed. Accordingly, we consulted prominent professionals and researchers in the field of Nepal’s participatory forestry, both within and outside Nepal and requested them to write chapters in the field of their interests and competencies.
