This is another wonderful book in the "Green Forest Series" by Thornton Burgess. This story tells us how Lightfoot the deer manages to avoid hunters as he grows up, and the help he gets from other animals.
This edition of the book contains the original, restored eight illustrations by Harrison Cady, and six additional, subject-relevant ones unique to this edition.
