In medieval Wales, a young woman weaves the tapestry of her life’s dreams. Those in authority over her have other plans.

Eighteen year old Anmair is talented, stubborn and in no hurry to wed. When she’s betrothed against her will, her grandmother gives her a treasured box, a reliquary, and relates the legends of the women of their ancestry. In the box, these women of faith have placed their tokens of the learning the Lord’s granted them. Anmair is given in marriage to serve her father’s ambitions for greater power in Clwyd, and has little choice but to obey. Living with Cadell, her unwanted husband and his relatives, Anmair accepts her wyrd: to strive to create a new accord between their warring clans. Peace, however, proves elusive in a land torn by Viking raids, English territorial ambitions, and treachery. And can she hope to love and be loved? Pagan raiders, Welsh bandits, and even the reluctant spouse play their parts in her growth as a woman worthy to hold the Faith Box. Anmair learns in a hard school that only by placing her trust in God can she face her destiny.
