Hawthorne's THE HOUSE OF THE SEVEN GABLES

The story takes place in the 19th century and is about a 200 year old house plagued with hardship and sorrow and witchcraft. The current resident, Hepzibah, is very poor. She opens a shop in the home to support herself and her brother, newly out of prison. There is also a boarder in the attic. Then, a pretty young cousin arrives. There are many complications and mysterious happenings.
