NATURAL BAITS FOR FISHERMEN

Millions of fishermen in both fresh and salt water use live or natural baits when they try their luck. Only a small minority of anglers never or rarely use such natural baits. Sooner or later every fisherman finds that he can catch more fish and have more fun if he uses natural baits on many of his fishing trips.
But when he tries to find out which baits are best, where they can be obtained, how they are kept or preserved, and how they are used, he runs into difficulties. Such information is either obtained the hard way through trial and error or bit by bit from scattered books, maga­zines and other printed sources. Hundreds of books have been written on using artificial lures. But very rarely has a book such as this been devoted entirely to natural baits.
There is a common belief among fishermen who use artificial lures that using natural baits is too easy and requires little skill or study. But those anglers who have used natural baits for a long time soon dis­cover that there are many things to learn about such baits. The use of natural baits often requires as much skill and knowledge as the use of artificial lures. Those anglers who have made a study of fresh and salt water baits usually catch more and bigger fish than their fellow anglers.
