-Dr. Eberhardt Sterne, a family practice physician and Mindy’s father—he founded The Chinook Assembly, a retreat center in Western Oregon.
-Anselm Sterne, Mindy’s younger brother.
-Bernardo Armentrout, a high school student who was orphaned.
