Intervention and the Common Core

The goal of this book is to presents foundational guidance on teaching and learning with the Common Core State Standards for English Language Arts and Literacy in History/Social Studies, Science, and Technical Subjects for those learners most at-risk. This is not simply a walk through the standards, but rather a means to apply the intent of the standards in reaching students who enter school at-risk and those who have been in our system for years and become casualties of the curriculum choices foisted upon them. To accomplish this goal, the book focuses on three major understandings:
1. The “big ideas” of the standards;
2. The most critical components of the English language arts standards and their relationship to teaching students at-risk; and
3. Tier two and tier three instructional models in the Age of the Common Core.
