Designing for Remembrance: An Architectural Memoir

Designing for Remembrance offers a unique insight into the personal, political, financial, and artistic challenges involved in designing a national memorial. Serving as the Architect-of-Record for the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington, DC, William P. Lecky worked closely with Maya Lin. His firm also served as architects for the Korean War Veterans Memorial on the National Mall. Included in the book are discussions about two other memorials designed by Lecky, as well as his reflections on the World War II Memorial, the Pentagon Memorial, and the World Trade Center 9/11 Memorial in New York.
