The Bartender surveys his tawdry domain through eyes needing sleep and other rest. To his right a one-ton granite slab anchors the room. The Ten Commandments chiseled on its face keep the Bartender in line but do little to curb the shenanigans of the patrons. It’s a booze-drenched domain inhabited by the Owl’s Head bar regulars, poker-playing dogs, and iconic characters from jokes.
The Bartender’s wary emotional isolation is invaded by a couple of lovely lesbians from Berkeley, a corrupt Preacher, a troubled Little Johnny, and a shapely lonely waitress. These and more descend on the Owl’s Head with schemes and dreams, hoping to enlist the Bartender in their plans.
Part biting social commentary and part absurdist comedy, The Bartender serves up a hilarious yet poignant triple shot of history, hypocrisy, and real-world family values.
