What would the lives of three children be like if one day they saw a crowd in front of their home, along with a police car and a truck from the morgue? What if one of the children later started having dreams that turned out to be premonitions of violent family deaths?

I am one of those children, and Living Between the Tracks is about my life as a child and an adult. I wrote about many things over a period of many years. Then, about ten years ago, while moving, I found those old renderings that brought back many sad emotions. I also found myself laughing at things I had long since forgotten and realized a healing was taking place.

I decided a few years later to write my memoirs for family members, but only recently to share with others. My hope is that young women, especially, learn from my story because I know that learning vicariously from others' experiences is, many times, more advantageous.

I have always known that some experiences were inescapable. However, I only recently looked at them differently after realizing that what happens to us matters; but what matters most is how we handle what happens.

In sharing my story, and the lessons I have learned, I hope that readers take from this book feelings of determination, forgiveness, and hope.
