THE MAGIC FOREST
Get ready to be transferred in imagination to those lands, so remote for most of us, where dwell wild forest animals and Indians,—and "The Magic Forest" is welcome. The author has looked upon all the natural life in the streams and the woods with as keen an appreciation of their significant harmony.
The small hero of this modern fairy tale of Stewart White is nine-year-old Jimmy Ferris, who has risen from his bed, and in a state of somnambulance had wandered through various decrees of danger. Now with his mother he is going from New York into the Canadian country—into this northern land where he has been filled with wonder at a May snow storm; the mystery of the snow-curtained forest has stirred his romantic child's soul. And when it is repainted to him alluringly in his dreams, the small boy walks off the train to that forest which has charmed him.
