My Four Wives: The Candid Confessions of a Polygamous Muslim Man

There are not a lot of Muslim men who have marriages like mine. I have to specify this from the outset. Most polygamous (or more correctly, polygynous) Muslim families are not Western, nor modern. Polygynous Muslim families almost always include women who are at least hijabi, wearing the traditional Islamic headscarf, if not draped head to toe in a chador or jilbab and niqab. Many Americans have seen families like these: at their local super markets, Starbucks or Targets. If you saw our multiethnic family, however, you would probably not assume we were all necessarily Muslim, you would be even less likely to suspect that we are married... And you would never imagine what goes on in our bedrooms.
