Did I Make Par? is a story about Charlie Caldwell, a professional golfer that originally had his fifteen minutes of fame when he blew the US Open on the last hole. Charlie marries the girl and ends up with the perfect job as a club professional. He and the club do well under Charlie's thirty years.

Charlie begins to have memory problems in his fifties and they progressively get worse. Eventually, the memory problems are diagnosed as Alzheimer's and he's forced to leave his club job.

Charlie's son, Mikey, arrives on the scene and helps his parents prepare for the future. In the process of selling many of their household items, Charlie rescues his golf clubs. Mikey takes Charlie golfing and despite not knowing which club to hit, Charlie's golf skills are flawless.

Mikey enters his father into several tournaments and eventually he qualifies for the US Senior Open. Having Alzheimer's creates special issues for Charlie and for the other golfers and these are highlighted in the book. Eventually, Charlie finishes the tournament and though he doesn't win the tournament, he has won the crowds.
