Ariella's Defense

Ariella Underhill had a wild streak. She had already been through a lot in her young life, so when she got a job as the Court Deputy in judge Quincy Hassiston's federal courtroom, there were high hopes that the decorum and orderly process of the court would help ease Ariella away from her wild-child past.

At first, the judge and lawyers enjoyed the color Ariella's youth and vivaciousness brought to the drab courtroom, but soon her playful demeanor and inexperienced mistakes were upsetting the balance of justice, particularly in the case of USA vs. BERNZAHAR, being defended by M. "MAC" MCDONALD.

Mac had become disillusioned with the law, the staid realm he once embraced for its fundamental ideals, and Ariella is likewise was finding it difficult to find any part of the world in which she fit into.

The two of them find a common ground that unites Mac's discipline and guidance with Ariella's passion.
