Dead fish show up on her desk, ex-husbands show up at her door, and then accounting instructor Kate Bradshaw is fired from Portlandia University. And that’s before a former student commits suicide, leaving a note claiming she’s the reason he jumped. Kate’s comfortably uneventful life is lost forever as she is forced to deal with the police, suspicious friends and colleagues, and determined reporters. With no help from the police—who are satisfied to take the suicide note at face value—Kate begins her own investigation into the student's death.
