In the always-volatile political arena of Los Angeles, the first Mexican-American Mayor is elected. An honorable Latino judge, sitting behind the bench for years, makes a not-so-good decision in one of the many cases passing through his court. And a new reporter struggles to set her career on decent footing, as she deals with family issues and a failed marriage.

Somewhere along the way, these three seemingly isolated incidents--two innocuous and one eventful--get inevitably linked, threatening to destroy with a single blow what the reporter, the judge and the politician had worked so hard for.
