The Misadventures of Cpl. Sachs

Harley Sachs drifted through college at Indiana University staying one step ahead of the draft during the Korean war. Terrified of the German proficiency exam, he eventually added credits enough for a German minor. He thought he would never be drafted because of lifelong asthma but to no avail. In spite of being unfit for combat, he was assigned to Queer Company for training, a menagerie of physically and mentally defective draftees. But the German minor got him an assignment to Heidelberg, Germany where he began his Grand Tour of Europe much like 17th Century young men who wen on tour and sowed wild oats.
