The title of my book is a tribute to my deceased husband,Los Angeles City Fire Fighter Brian Phillips. Brian died in an arson fire when the straps that were to secure him to the aerial ladder came loose and he fell fifty feet to the ground below. His memory lives on to this day through the many wonderful tributes held in his honor with the fire department and his fellow firefighters. A placque with his name, date of birth and death is located on the front of Fire Station 102 in Valley Glen,Los Angeles where he was stationed. The fire station also displays photos and other memorabilia in Brian's honor. The firefighters at station 102 created and wear the patch that is on the cover of my story. They also have it located on the windows of their fire trucks. At the Firemans's Museum in Hollywood, Caifornia the firefighters built a six foot tall display case in his honor. Located inside are his three department badges, his dress hat, the flag that was on his casket, written proclamations and a photo of him and his family. After twenty-five years I finally received from the fire department the accident investigation report explaining the events prior to the arson fire and the events that took place on the night of his death. I chose,in his memory,to write this memoir of the life he loved and lived. I also hope this story will help fire fighters and their families find healing and closure.
