Hamlet II King of Denmark

In the closing scene of Shakespeare’s The Tragedy of Hamlet, Prince of Denmark, Hamlet’s enemies are dead and Hamlet himself is dying. At Hamlet’s death, there would be no lineal heir to the Danish throne. Hamlet uses his dying breath to implore Horatio:

Absent thee from felicity awhile,
And in this harsh world
draw thy breath in pain,
To tell my story.
