The Story of Corpus Christi

A true Daughter of the Confederacy, the author presents the history of the Texas coastal city of Corpus Christi, from the point of view of white Protestant settlers. She illustrates how the city came to be, and outlines the key figures in the history of the city. It is also an excellent view of the city as it was at the turn of the previous century, up through 1915.

The history is replete with humorous stories, and sometimes tragic stories. It shows how the early settlers were affected by marauding Indians and thieving gangs of Mexicans in the early days. She also goes into details of how the city was affected by the Civil War, and describes several of the battles fought there.
