Our “perfect” mate isn’t always who we imagine it to be. After missing an opportunity to connect with her fantasy girlfriend at a party, a woman continues to socialize into the evening. Months later, she is reintroduced to another woman who was at the same party. They establish a thread of a connection. Judgment, memory, self-deception, and self-discovery are explored as they spend time getting to know one another. The two women fall in love with a depth of feeling unimaginable at the onset, in this highly emotional short story.
