Resident Rats

In this book, a real Dad tells a bedtime story to his wife and four daughters about three fictitious cute and cuddly rats that come to live with a pretend family just like theirs. The story has pretend Dad finally accepting the new guests as family members, encounters with a mean spirited neighbor and his even meaner nephew (whom two of the girls give a well deserved beating) and takes the pretend family through many adventures that include a trip to Disneyland, discovery of hidden passages in their old New Orleans home leading to a secret room filled with wondrous treasures. At the story’s end we discover the inspiration for the pretend story may not be so pretend after all.
