Follow the excitement and plot-twists that turn a young woman’s vacation in Kowloon, China into the adventure of a lifetime. A pleasant, site-seeing tour turns from exotic to chaotic when Melissa Marcus, Mel to her friends, meets the ghosts of Tao Palace. Are these real images from dynasty long past or just pranks played on unsuspecting tourists? She is determined to prove that an insurance investigator from the 21st century can figure out what led to the deaths of the sixteenth-century Tao family. Mel searches for an ancient secret and winds up learning the tragic stories of deception, loss and heartache of their modern-day ancestors. In one short week, she is kidnapped, threatened by a powerful business mogul, flirts with one fun and fascinating young man then falls into a head-spinning, heart-throbbing romance with another. It's enough to make anyone crazy – KOWLOON KRAZY!
None of Melissa Marcus’ friends ever expected that she would be interested in traveling to China. Mel, as her friends call her, is too serious and business-like to go jetting off to Kowloon alone. Mel has always dreamed of visiting such an exotic location, so when she wins an all-expense paid trip courtesy of her employer, Allied Insurance, she doesn’t think twice. She boards her dog, says goodbye to her friends and co-workers in Toledo, Ohio and sets off on an adventure no one could imagine.
In the next few days, serious Mel becomes seriously involved with a hot Argentinian named Vincent and makes fast friends with funny and fabulous guy named Gus, who falls hard for Mel. She also manages to encounter a royal couple, their baby boy and his nanny - who all died in the sixteenth century and now haunt their former palace. After she meets one of the Tao heirs, Mel is determined to discover what tragic incident led to the death of the baby, the murder of his nanny and suicides of both his parents. Things go from scary to KRAZY when another living member of the Tao family finds out. Mel is kidnapped, threatened by the powerful businessman and confused by her feelings for not one, but two very different men. The mysteries of both the ancient and the modern-day members of the Tao family send Mel and everyone around her into a KOWLOON KRAZY adventure no one will soon forget.
Elle Mills
Elle (pronounced ‘L’) Mills lives in the U.S. Midwest. She has written poetry, fiction and non-fiction since grade school. Elle enjoys writing in a variety of genres, many courtesy of her dreams. Ms. Mills published her first work (printed in pencil on notebook paper) at age 10 to a rave review from her 4th grade teacher. Her works have been widely read (admittedly some by force, due to being a college textbook) by her students, friends and loved ones. To learn more about Elle’s works, visit her website, www.ellemills.com.
My fiction works come primarily from my dreams. These are dramatic, often humorous, and complete story concepts “delivered to me” in a single night. Each dream-story has a beginning, middle and end. The characters are not familiar to me and I am not present in any of the dreams. Often the stories take place in locales I’ve neither traveled to nor studied. In the dream, each character’s personality is well defined and the surroundings are vividly detailed (and yes, in color). I often do not have conscious prior knowledge about certain story elements. I research at the library and on the Internet then add details from my own experiences and conscious imagination to fill in the blanks and write the book.
I write in a variety of genres including non-fiction, poetry, hard science fiction, romance and fantasy/horror. I continually have several works under development at the same time. I find I am able to write in a different style depending on the nature of the characters and genre. My dreams provide me the plotline for the story then my conscious imagination and voracious interest in research and story telling takes over. At a younger age, I thought I was just weird. Through the support and love of family and friends, I now realize this unusual ability is a gift. I sincerely hope my readers will un-wrap these gifts and thoroughly enjoy them.
