This e-book is an SUPERB rendition of a hi-def scan of the original, printed book. What sets this biography of Washington apart is the link between his life and historical events taking place at the same time. In this way, it's very interesting to see how events shaped Washington's life. A great read for anyone who likes to read. If this e-book were a printed book, it would have about 260 pages.

Horace Elisha Scudder was born in Boston, Massachusetts. Being the last of seven children, he seldom lacked company during his early years. His parents, Charles Scudder, a successful merchant, and Sarah Lathrop Coit Scudder, were both native New Englanders. Charles Scudder, who served as a deacon in the Union Church, exerted a strong religious influence on his children. Horace Scudder attended Roxbury and Boston Latin schools before entering Williams College. While in college, he devoted himself to classical studies and to editing the Williams Quarterly. He graduated in 1858 at the age of twenty.

Scudder had a significant impact on adult literature. He wrote several adult books, including George Washington - An Historical Biography (1889). From 1890 to 1898 he served as editor of the Atlantic Monthly.

* This e-book is a true representation, hand-transcribed from a high-definition scan of a pre-1923 print version of the book. Unlike other e-copies of the book, it was not produced by using Optical Character Recognizion (OCR). OCR-scanning old books is seldom, if ever, error-free. This often results in an e-book with many **, ^^, >> and typographic errors when OCR can't read the word or punctuation correctly.

* "True representation" means that if the print version has any inscriptions or previous owner's name in the front of the book, this e-book might as well. Blank pages that often separate chapters might be left in. And pages that may have a folded corner or other, similar damage might be included, too.

* In other words, no changes or as few as possible have been made to either the illustrations or the text in order to bring you an e-book that is as close to the original as possible.
