Trout and How to Catch Them

PREFACE

THE "tips" in this book should be valuable
even to experienced trout fishers, and very
much so to the fisherman who has got to
the stage of casting a fair line with wet or dry
fly, but who just misses making a basket when
trout are down or not taking according to
the book.

For instance, the method of fishing a lee
shore of a loch, casting with the wind, is a
very telling dodge not known to the generality
of anglers.

1 consider that it is very good of Mr Castle
to pass on his discoveries, for many highly
skilled anglers rather incline to keep their
particular methods secret. I have fished per
dies fcstos for over fifty years sticklebacks
to whales from back parts of China to
the American continent, from the Arctic to
the Antarctic. Owing to such experience the
author has asked me to write this short pre-
face, which I do with goodwill to the author
and other anglers.
