Levi Frazier Jr. is an actor, writer, director, and producer. Since graduating from college, he has co-founded two different theatre companies, Beale Street Repertory Company and Blues City Cultural Center. He has appeared in several movies and television productions including WALKING TALL II, THE FIRM, THE CHAMBER, HER HIDDEN TRUTH, and THE MISSISSIPPI.
As a playwright, his works have been produced in cities across the U.S. including New York, Chicago, Miami, Austin, and Memphis. His play with music, A TRIBUTE TO RICHARD WRIGHT, was produced in Paris, by invitation, at an international literary festival. His musical, BEALE STREET BACK AGAIN, was commissioned by the state of Tennessee for its Bicentennial Celebration. In 1992 he was one of three writers selected nationally to receive the Southern Writers Project Award by the Alabama Shakespeare Festival.
In 1994, he was one of seven playwrights chosen nationally to have their plays read at the Association for Theatre of Higher Education National Conference. Most recently, his play, WHEN IT RAINS, won first place in Chattanooga Theater Center's 2002 Play writing contest. This show also was selected for a reading at the Conference on World Affairs at the University of Colorado at Boulder. Levi holds a BA degree from Rhodes, formey South-western College in Memphis, and an MA from the University of Memphis.
