Abstract: Evolutionists have long used the analogy of a family tree to describe the common ancestry of all life on Earth. They refer to this analogy as the “phylogenetic tree.” However, a brief glance at the many variations of the phylogenetic tree makes it clear that there is little consensus among scientists as to where many animals fit. By examining the case of the platypus, it becomes clear that the phylogenetic tree is based largely on speculation. Evolutionists are actually beginning to realize for themselves that the tree has some major shortcoming, and so they are changing their analogy. The change is not primarily to reflect honest scientific observations, but to steer attention away from the glaring problems of assuming a common ancestry of all life.
