Vintage Filet Crochet Pattern Chair Back & Oval Doily Birds & Roses
My Design Inspiration for the Vintage Filet Crochet Pattern Chair Back & Oval Doily Birds & Roses:
At one of the shops was a beautiful vintage crochet chair back cover. Unfortunately it was being sold with the chair and the seller wouldn't let me have the piece on its own. I took a photo of this crochet treasure and after some research found one exactly like it on e-Bay. I didn't hesitate to buy it. Nowadays chair back covers are not that popular so I've adapted the filet crochet pattern into an oval doily, which will look stunning as a center piece on a table. The Hillsville Flea Market in Virginia is one of the largest shows in the southeast. Antique dealers, gun dealers and traders of all kinds participate in this event. It takes place over the Labor Day weekend and the whole town of Hillsville is abuzz for four days. Vendors set up their tents shops along the streets, in the parking area and in the surrounding fields. The sight is something to witness!
How the Crochet Pattern Is Made:
You can use any size cotton crochet thread you choose. The finished sizes of the pieces made using the different size crochet thread have been estimated, as well as the quantities of the thread needed to complete the piece.
The filet crochet chair back cover starts at the top and you work down the design. The filet crochet oval doily starts at the one narrow end and is worked by increasing in the filet stitch, working straight in filet and then tapering down to the other end.
Both crocheted pieces have the ever-popular pineapple used in the edging.
Oh, Yeah…
I think these two little lovebirds are adorable!
