The neuroscience community is currently facing a
crisis. There is a vast amount of neuroscience-related research and
educational activity occurring across a wide array of disciplines within
university environments, but the main problem is that this activity remains
scattered and fragmented (the figure below shows all the neuro-related labs
on Georgia Tech's campus, which, for the most part, remain disconnected).
To solve this problem, this textbook outlines a new educational discipline,
theory, and student-led movement - neurobiotechnology. This newly defined
discipline combines neurophilosophy, neuroscience, neuroengineering,
entrepreneurship, and medicine in order to more clearly define all the
resources available to solve neuroscience-related (and thus
neuroengineering-related) problems, as well as to optimize the network
interactions among these sources. Join this movement to take a role to help
solve the biggest issues in brain science.
