Timeline of Tennessee History

Archeologists have learned that some of the earliest known inhabitants of the region of North America that we now call Tennessee were established as early as15,000 BC. However, no white man entered the region until Hernando de Soto arrived until 1539. Other Europeans quickly followed to possess the lands of the natives. With effort, we can trace the flow of hundreds of historical events over the next 400 years into modern times.
The Timeline of Tennessee History follows that interesting stream of events, while examining not only when something happened, but who was involved in what happened, where it happened and why it happened.
