Before Jesus’ crucifixion, His followers became changed people. However, after He emerged from the tomb, they were even more dramatically changed. By the time Christians reached Antioch, they were erroneously accused of “turning the world up-side down.” In reality, through Christians, God was turning the world right-side up!
When Christianity reached Rome, a true social revolution began to develop. Abortion was drastically reduced. Infanticide was all but eliminated. Christians “invented” orphanages/children’s homes, nursing homes, and hospitals. Slavery began to decline. Gladiator combat ended. Christianity elevated the place of women in the society. Over the following centuries, as Christianity spread northward in the Empire, Christians invented university education and they developed the concept of democracy. From the arrival of the first Puritans, through the writing of the Constitution of the US, virtually every person of prominence was determined to establish a country based on Christianity. The documentary evidence is abundant and the facts are denied only those ignorant of history or intentional deceivers. In the US Christians were responsible for the child labor laws, for the abolition of slavery, and for the increased elevation of the position of women in our society. In brief, What if Jesus Had Remained in the Tomb describes more than fifty specific social improvements brought about by the influence of the Christ whom God refused to permit to remain in the tomb.
The final chapter analyzes the process followed by some of the major social reformers. Knowledge of their methods gives modern “world changers” a foundational plan for action.
