Enigma of Lake Falls

What's going on in a small Texas town in the summer of 1949? More than just listening to baseball on the radio and the annual barbeque. The Cold War sweeps into town in the form of an accused spy. Sawyer Finn, the fedora wearing detective with a photographic memory moves back to his home town after finishing football at Yale. Jenny, the Boston native and Harvard grad with a shadowy past and many secrets, ends up in Lake Falls, Texas to make Finn's life interesting. The pair makes for swashbuckling heroes who might just have feelings for each other.

Just as Sawyer's Investigations hangs up the open sign, a local town operator puts Jenny on the trail of a Russian spy. Her stubborn pursuit of the truth puts a target on her back bigger than Texas. Sawyer, at first reluctant to follow the brunette beauty's lead, soon finds himself in the middle of a long standing feud and a shady gambler who runs the town with his goon enforcer.

Told from the point of view of both Sawyer and Jenny, the story has action, humor, suspense, romance, danger, car chases featuring vintage automobiles, cross country train rides, fistfights, a kidnapped judge and of course spies.

The humor and witty dialogue makes for vivid characters. The suspenseful storyline and the pursuit of the bad guys kicks the tale into high gear zooming to the rollercoaster climax from the country town to the big cities of San Antonio, Fort Worth and Dallas, and then to Little Rock and Memphis. Ultimately all the answers lie back home with a stunning revelation.
