Chase Jensen is a 13 year old going to 8th grade at his junior high. He has poor self esteem and feels lonely at his school. Chase is bullied at school by two boys who cause him to lose all self confidence in his abilities. He goes through several challenges at school including being turned down by a girl he liked to a dance. These challenges at school combined with a verbally abusive father who belittles him on a daily bases pushes Chase to his limits. He becomes depressed and even thinks about suicide.
It is Chase’s faith in the Lord and his LDS background that helps keep him going along with his vivid imagination that comes through his dreams. At school and home he sees himself as a loser with no friends. In his dreams he becomes the hero of the story doing amazing things. It is through his dreams that Chase finds solace and learns that there is more to the dreams he is having. There are messages being given to Chase in his dreams that teaches himself confidence and faith in himself and in the Lord.
Through studying about dreams and reading the scriptures, Chase decides that he will put his dreams to the test. He fasts and prays for guidance and answers to questions only his Heavenly Father could answer. Chase receives his answers in a dream and because of those answers and the personal revelation he receives he starts to change his life around.
In the end Chase knows his Heavenly Father loves him, he’s a child of God, and he has a mission on this earth. He still has challenges at school, but now he is able to face them and conquer them through hard work and faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. He also finds it in his heart to forgive his father for the years of verbal abuse he was subject to and to start helping his father more in order to take of the stress his father has after coming home from work. Chase is no longer depressed and strives to fulfill his mission on earth.
