A View of Lincoln is an intimate view of Lincoln, told from the viewpoint of former slave, Elizabeth Keckley, Mary Todd Lincoln’s seamstress. This book weaves a collective together of Lincoln’s speeches, rare photographs and excerpts from Keckley’s autobiography to reveal the Lincoln behind closed doors as his speeches are being written, as the Civil War rages, as tragedy besets the Lincoln family, and as a cry for the end of slavery is called.
