Armed and Unbalanced

Founders of this country thought it was necessary to include the right to bear arms in the by-laws of the land. Indeed, gun ownership was a necessary part of development and protection in the hostile, vulnerable environment of colonial times. But in today’s modern society, gun ownership is not only unnecessary, but it also creates unsafe conditions and an element of danger. Because our country has such a rich history of violence, gun ownership is seen as symbol of efficiency and pride. It is the American way. It is how we get things done. I argue that gun ownership is an outdated and an unnecessary way of life. Boldly, I assert that the Second Amendment of the United States Constitution should be eradicated and revised to make gun ownership unlawful to all non-law enforcement, non-military, or non-industry based citizens.
