This book contrasts two people. One is looking for more wealth. The other believes that peace of mind and self-satisfaction are more important than money. These two men have been friends for many, many years. The one with money wants to go back to his childhood area, but he doesn't want to pay much for a very desirable place. The other tells his friend to stop worrying about the money and just go back where he wanted to be.
The one who liked peace of mind told his wife, called C., about the situation of the other, that he really wanted to get back to the old area, but he didn't want to pay what might be a very high price. C. devised a plan for her husband to help his friend. She sent her husband all the way back to the friend's childhood area to look around and begin the talk that a man raised there was planning to come back and buy a property in the area.
C. had a good plan. A lot of the property owners knew each other and began to speculate about the fellow who would soon be coming to see about buying a place. Just like C. had thought, the several property owners, most of them not even planning to sell at all, began to get into a competition to attract the man. Each, then, wanted to be the one selected by the fellow who would soon be up there to look around. As a result, when the fellow did get there, several wanted to sell. Therefore, the price was not as high as it would have been had not C. put her plan into effect.
The fellow does get a property and is very happy. C. is celebrated for her genius.
