Modern American Poetry. A unique view of life and society through poetry. After having served in the U. S. Navy, I had many difficulties adapting to society as a civilian. Writing was an outlet that allowed me to express the frustration and anger, sorrow and joy, confusion and chaos that i felt on a daily basis. You can see in the progression of the book how it transitions from drunken anger to hope and possibility.
