Bastian's Cast

This enjoyable picture book for young children is a part of the series of Bastian Adventure Books, designed to prepare young children for medical procedures and written by a certified pediatric nurse. It is meant to be read with the child in preparation for getting a cast, but can also be used as a therapeutic communication tool after the fact. In a fun, honest and informative way, it will follow Bastian the cheetah as he goes to the ER with a broken bone , gets an X-rays, gets a splint, visits the orthopedic clinic and finally- get a cast, goes through home trials and has it removed. The book also contains a parent advice page- with tips on how to act during the procedures and how to best prepare.
