ELIZABETH'S LIGHT

ELIZABETH DEVON becomes Florence Nightingale's maid, but it is a life little better than slavery. At the same time, DANIEL COLLINE flees the horror of Ireland's potato famines. They meet and fall in love at London's 1851 Great Exhibition where Elizabeth first sees a camera and vows to become a photographer. She believes photography will free her from a life of servitude. Daniel joins the Light Brigade in the Crimea and Elizabeth travels there to nurse wounded soldiers and also photograph their suffering. Her photographs will shock the British public and bring her fame. Then she can marry Daniel. But first Daniel must survive a suicidal cavalry charge, while political forces are intent on obliterating Elizabeth's work. After all, she is only a maid, a woman, and therefore has no rights. They do nor know Elizabeth Devon.
