Originally from Nebraska, Phyl Manning took advantage of an opportunity to teach abroad, and with her family went first to Saipan, then Ponape (now “Pohnpei”) in the West Pacific. After several years, they went on from there to work and live in (and travel around) other places until Phyl can say she has spent time on every continent except Australia (“Still a bucket destination”) and Antarctica (“No thanks”).
