Her eyes fluttered open. Mindy took a moment to let her vision become accustomed to the dimly lit room. It took a few moments to get her bearings. Musty raw coolness swept over her body letting her know she was completely naked. Shivering she spotted a clump of brown cloth spread across the back side, most of it near the corner of the cage. Hope sprung realizing it was a blanket. Quickly she crawled over and grabbed it and pulled it around her shoulders, ignoring its coarse texture that made her think of burlap.
She looked around the cage and was grateful that she could stand up despite the constraints of metal bars surrounding her. Then she realized that what she had been sleeping on wasn’t what she anyone would call a bed, but only a thin pad or an extra large yoga mat. No wonder her body ached.
How long had she been inside this thing? How in the hell did she get inside in the first place. Had she been drugged? She didn’t know, nor did she remember. She thought of the liquor she’d consumed the night before in his office while they discussed her article. Nothing more than a small room set off from the rest of the club known as Pulse she now regarded it as a portal that put her in her present surroundings.
