Here are 70 pages of sequential Biblical information. You probably have read in both, the Old Testament and the New Testament. Although you know that all of those events happened, “a long time ago,” you may not know just how long ago they happened. You also may feel confused about the order in which those events happened. I began this collection of information to satisfy my own interests, I then realized that others probably would like to use this material as much as I.
Although I first read the Bible through more than 60 years ago, am a seminary graduate , and hold three doctoral degrees in Bible-related studies, I must admit that I learned some of the sequences of while I was compiling this timeline of Biblical events.
Although I have included many events that are not mentioned in the Bible, those events, and the people who experienced them, have helped form the historical and spiritual climate of the various periods of history. They are all related.
A word about dates: Having read numerous historical documents related to the materials of this timeline, I have found that the dates, although uncertain, they vary little. Rarely have I seen a date established by scholars of Biblical history that varies by more than one to three years.
When looking back two thousand to four thousand years, I feel comfortable knowing that the best scholars are within only one to three years of agreement. I feel certain that they are of equally high scholarship and equally high integrity.
Having compiled over a lengthy period of time from numerous sources, assuming the document would be used only by myself, I made no notes of sources. If I had, the source references would occupy almost as many pages as the actual timeline. However, one source is outstanding: I owe the greatest gratitude to those who created The Reese Chronological Bible.
As I continue to read the Scriptures, I suspect that I will be referring to this document for the remainder of my life. I hope you will find it a worthy reference.
