Gabriel chuckled darkly. "You don't have to do as I say, of course. If you can't, then this position may not be for you. After all, you can expect that much of your duties will involve nudity. Is that a problem?"
I was like a deer in headlights. The entire world seemed to slow, to be thick like warm honey. In my mind, everything I had ever thought myself to be screamed at me.
NO, it said. This isn't who I am. This is all a mistake.
"Come now, Sienna. You knew what this was, didn't you?"
The shit of it was, I had known. I had known exactly what this was. Gabriel was right, nudity was certainly part of the job. Besides, didn't they deserve to know what I looked like before they took me on? It was a wonderful offer, and certainly they deserved to know what they were paying for.
Slowly, I stood, keeping my eyes on the screen. My legs were like jelly, and I was trembling.
I can't ever remember being so afraid.
I couldn't let him cajole me, however. That wasn't who I was. I could do this. It wasn't a big deal.
