The Little Ones, by Author Michael Williams, is set in modern day America. Tim, a young teenage boy, and his mohter,Sharon, are the subjects of physical abuse by his father,Jeff.
One day as Tim was walking to school, his friend Ben gave him a charm and told him of how he could use it to call upon Hell's gatekeerpers, The Little Ones. He could summon them to come and help him to stop the abuse that he suffers at the hands of his father.
Then one evening, after being beaten by his father, Tim gets up the courage to call upon The Little Ones and ask them for their help to stop his father from beating his mother and himself.
