Why would a man with numerous serious illnesses tell his counselor
that he's not afraid to die--he's more afraid he's going to live? In an exchange between
himself and his therapist, he uses written papers to explore this odd response, and finds
much more than he expected.
Thank you for reading Bill’s story. It took a long time to write and I had a lot of encouragement and help. My wife and best friend Carol was with me, side by side during the whole process, and during all my ups and downs. My real counselor, Ginger Levick provided wonderful insight and support, and caused me to look at many more aspects of my personal journey than I would have, on my own. Many people have listened to and contributed to my story, because it’s their story too.
Of course, many things changed for me during that time. But, in general my story is complete and accurate in most detail (allowing for fictional alterations). I’ve had more good times and a few bad ones, lots of med experiments and changes, and am for the most part, doing pretty well.
In the back I have included many of the resources and references and the acknowledgement for the quotations and facts and stuff that helped me tell this story.
And, I hoped it helped you a little. And I hope you can think of some aid or idea, large or small, that might help to create a future for all of us, healthy or not, that will help us all live with dignity and purpose.
