"Steve Fleischli delivers a fast-paced legal drama that will open your eyes to the way the system really works. Full of great characters, intrigue, and gritty green!"
-Terry Tamminen, Secretary of the California EPA for Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger
Sawyer Guthrie has worked hard his entire life and has finally achieved the one thing he's always wanted: a high paying job as an environmental lawyer. He is happy in his new career - until he realizes he is hurting a community he thought he'd be working to protect.
Complicit presents an insider's view of environmental protection in America, and reveals a system where the lines between heroes and villains are often blurred - and where the law largely favors the status quo and the well-heeled.
Steve Fleischli is a Senior Attorney at the Natural Resources Defense Council and the former President of Waterkeeper Alliance. He has served as the Santa Monica Baykeeper and as an Adjunct Professor at Pepperdine University School of Law. He graduated from UCLA School of Law and holds a bachelor's degree from the University of Colorado, Boulder, with majors in Economics; Environmental, Population, & Organismic Biology; and Environmental Conservation.
His environmental advocacy, including several major Clean Water Act cases in Los Angeles, has been featured in The New York Times, The Los Angeles Times, and The Christian Science Monitor, among numerous other publications.
