This unique book contains my photos and musings of Cuba in March 2006 when I was an American tourist of passion during a one-month visit from my home in Honolulu, Hawaii. This text is heavily laden with my personal observations of the Cuban people, Cuban society, Cuban transportation, Cuba’s art scene, their children, important destinations to visit in this historic country and my hopes that “Cuba can remain Cuba” without succumbing to the realities of being an isolated agrarian society just 70 miles away from the USA.

This trip occurred during Fidel’s regime however nothing substantial seems to have changed since Raul took over so I use “Castro” interchangeably between Fidel and Raul. Currently, Raul is scheduled to “retire” in 2018 so this book should be fully functional for another 5 years. Along with “other” guidebooks, An American Tourist in Fidel’s Cuba provides a practical and satirical tool for people planning a visit to Cuba.
